How to switch Energy Supplier
Step 1 – Be prepared
Before moving to a new supplier it’s worth checking if there is a charge for ending your current energy contract. If you are currently in a fixed rate contract it’s more likely there will be a charge to leave before the initial term is finished.
Once you’re ready to switch you need the following info:
1. Your current Gas and Electric supplier(s)
2. Your address
3. Your energy usage (in kilowatt hours or the amount you spend) for both gas and electricity.
4. Your bank details (if you choose to pay by Direct Debit)
Your supplier name and usage can be found on a recent bill. If you don’t have one to look at you can still use our calculator, simply select “I don’t know how much I spend or consume” and we will do an estimate.
Step 2 – Complete our short online form.
Enter all the information you have on our form and we’ll show you a selection of suppliers available.
Step 3 – Choose your new supplier.
Pick the new offer that suits you. Your new energy supplier will organise the switch and your old provider will send you a final bill. Some suppliers are part of the Energy Switch Guarantee which tries to provide a switching service without any hassle for you.
